How To Begin Your Solo Travel Journey
Embracing The ‘Solo Traveler’ Mindset
August 31, 2021
Traveling solo is not easy, but it is worth it.
If you are here today, then it’s safe to say that you are looking into the idea of traveling solo and you are wondering, “How do I do it?”, and “What does it feel like?”
One thing I will tell you right now is that I’m proud of you.
You are already an empowered human by simply thinking of taking such a cool, wanderlust challenge!
So, here are my solo travel mindset tips and tricks to get you started on the right path to your first solo adventure!
How to Start Traveling On Your Own
MANIFEST AND BELIEVE
First things first — Begin by manifesting and believing that solo travel is something that you CAN do.
A lot of people would say they could never do it and when asked ‘why?’, they will usually respond with something along the lines of thinking it’s crazy and unsafe.
But maybe think about the possibility that they just don’t like the idea of being lonely, or out of their comfort zone, in a place super far from home.
As solo travelers, it’s important to admit that these are valid reasons for not feeling 100% comfortable with traveling alone! But if you have the desire to try it, the first thing you need to do is make sure you don’t drag yourself down by these thoughts.
Now, I’m being honest when I tell you that the potential of feeling lonely and unsafe during my solo trip is always a concern of mine too.
I can guarantee you that you aren’t alone on that as many other women solo travelers think about this too.
I hope it helps to let you know that it’s nothing but normal to have that reaction because, to be honest, feeling lonely can happen ANYTIME, not only when you are traveling.
Read that again: Feeling lonely can happen ANYTIME, not only when you are traveling.
The key is to remember that “lonely” is a feeling and not a state of being. And as far as feeling unsafe, there are ways to prepare and mitigate potential situations.
That said, the feeling of loneliness may will most likely come at you while traveling. But I can assure you that if you give the feeling the space and time that it needs to show up, instead of trying to push it down to avoid it, the feeling will also go away just. as. fast.
